Aug 5th Weight Watchers Update

It is 3 days until my first weigh in and I am doing pretty good.  I did eat through all my flex points (weekends are my downfall) so I have to stay within 28 points each day until Friday weigh in.  It really isn’t too hard though as long as I am careful about not using too many points during the day.  Nights are hard for me though.  I love to snack so I try to save a few for a light snack in the evening.

I have been experimenting with a few foods to make things interesting.  One that I enjoy is mixing 1/2 cup vanilla yogurt, 1/2 cup frozen cherries, thawed  and 1/4 cup granola for a light lunch or filling snack at just 5 points.  I like using the frozen fruit because once it thaws it makes its own juice.  Of course this idea came from McDonalds fruit and yogurt parfait but much more economical because I can buy a big tub of yogurt, the fruit and granola and have enough ingredients to make quite a few of them.  I think tomorrow I will make it with blueberries and strawberries YUM.

I do have one  bad habit that I need to break and that is going to bed late.  I am a night owl which comes from years of working the night shift in a factory before I became a mom.  Of course going to bed late and getting up early with means I am always tired.  Experts say that lack of sleep is bad for your health not to mention causes weight gain.  I could also use more energy that’s for sure.

I have been planning on posting my menus but am ashamed to say that I am not always as good as I should be.  I find that there are days that I am lacking either my calcium or veggies for the day.  I am getting better about getting enough calcium each day but veggies not so good.  I do like most veggies but tend to just eat them at dinner time.  Our garden is starting to produce cherry tomatoes as well as cucumbers so I am going to start making an effort to snack on those as well as carrots and celery during the day.

Now I am off to take a walk with my son.  We probably wont go far but any exercise is better than none!
